Moving

I've started blogging sporadically again, but on tech topics only. If you'd like to follow that discussion, head on over to the new site. There's an Atom feed as well.

All About Robots....

Sometimes boys are hopeless, really. I finished writing the about page. Presumably someone has to add a link to it on the sidebar, which is obviously not me. Presumably that someone is Adam? Well, if there are any mistakes to it you still have time to edit it, then.

Site work

I'm really sick of the Brandon Flowers/ pictures of/ sex with threads and the people they're attracting, so I've closed all new comments on those. I haven't deleted or hidden the comments, but I might. We'll see.

I've also turned off the subscription notifier; until I can upgrade again, the spam module was working after the subscription module, meaning that whenever the spam bots attacked, I got 400+ messages for deleted comments. Annoying.

And a note to Brent, Tara, etc.: even your comments might get hit by the filter. Go to comments->list->spam in the administration section every now and then, and check to see if valid comments have been blocked.

Buglist

Add more if you see them:

Links in comments don't have a color

Comments don't show user pictures (avatars)

People are still posting comments on Brent's picture of the Killers

Whew! Upgrade complete

I've been wanting to do this for a very, very long time. I've finally upgraded the Drupal installation. Some things might look a bit strange. If that happens, either clear your browser's cache or hold shift and click reload.

I think this will fix the nagging problem with overloaded subscription messages (Brent I think was the only one that hit this), and maybe it will fix some weirdness with comments and images.

I still have some more work to do, but as long as nothing is seriously broken, it can wait a while. I need to setup the anti-spam module, which will be easy, and I really want to change the theme, which will take some time. Let me know if anything is broken.

Oh, and one more thing: I think I lost all the user pictures besides the main 5. But you can upload away. For those of you with a picture on your left, that still has to be manually updated, but you can change the one shown next to the posts in your account settings.

Welcome to the new server

Well, I've made the switch. I had some problem with Richard's email, but I think most things are working. For the moment image uploading is broken, but I'll get that fixed ASAP. Post something here if you see a problem or want some other changes.

Update: Fixed the image problem!

Server switch impending

I've finally got another webhost for therobots. If nothing gets in my way I'll move the site this weekend. There might be some downtime, as I don't want any new posts to be lost in the transition.

I don't know if I'll have time this weekend, but I'll also be upgrading Drupal to a newer version. Maybe I'll have time for a new design? Anyone want to help with that?

And man, that Killers picture thread is going nuts.
